Hentai Ouji to Warawaranai Neko (Hentai Prince and the Stony Cat, or I’d prefer to call it Hentai Prince and the Nekogami/Cat Statue).

The real reason Yokodera joined the athletics club.

Finally the anime I’ve been waiting for since last year has arrived. Words are not enough to describe my excitement, I mean this is the first anime with Kantoku being the character designer! After this I shall look forward to another anime with characters designed by Kantoku, Prism Nana.

The story starts with Youto Yokodera having problem with being honest which led him to accept the ‘offer’ to become the next president of the athletics club. The current president, Tsukushi Tsutsukakushi, also known as the Steel King, thinks that Yokodera is the best candidate for the next president because he has shown the most effort when training with the club (though he doesn’t necessarily perform the best). The truth however is, Yokodera joined the club so that he could peek at the girls at the swimming pool next to their training spot.

The first encounter which led to some sort of ‘misunderstanding’.

Thinking that being unable to be honest as a problem (the façade), Yokodera followed an advice by his friend Ponta who has somehow has successfully cast out his lewdness. The advise is based on the rumor that by offering some gifts to the cat statue on top of a hill nearby so that he can remove his façade while giving it to somebody who needs it. After giving it some thoughts Yokodera decided to give it a try by offering his “Dutch wife” to the cat statue during the night.

Coincidentally Tsukiko Tsutsukakushi was also going to the hill to bring her own offering to the cat statue. Similar to Yokodera she also has a problem with being honest, which is in her case she is too easy to be scared or cry or something like that. Soon after meeting each other those two instantly ran into some misunderstanding but after they have cleared things up they both prayed to the cat statue without knowing the full extent of the cat statue’s power.

The following day Yokodera witnessed the school’s most popular girl, Azusa Azuki turning down a confession from a boy. That’s when the cat statue’s power really kicked in where Yokodera suddenly said some perverted stuff. Tsukushi who happen to be nearby looking for him (for skipping the morning training session) also became subject to his perversion, which in return granted him the reputation of being the “hentai prince”.

Later that day Yokodera once again met with Tsukiko, who also happens to attend the same school as him (and probably unknowing to him, is Tsukushi’s little sister). That is when he found out the cat statue has granted their wishes albeit a little too much to the point that Tsukiko no longer be able to show any expression, including embarrassment or laughter. Then they tried to find a way to reverse the process of which Tsukiko theorized that it might be possible by making somebody who want to give up their honesty problem so that they could get it.

They agreed to look for the person who would give up something that they need.

Yokodera believed that the one who have received his façade was Azusa after he noticed that her choker resembles his “Dutch wife’s” belt that the cat statue had ‘taken’ as his offering. He speculated that it was his façade that has helped Azusa maintaining her calm demeanor to keep her reputation as a lady from a high-class family. Following that once again the cat statue’s power kicked it, leading him to ‘confessed’ to her, and Azusa who was on the receiving end somehow ‘fell’ for it, marking a history in the school where for the first time she has finally been ‘defeated’.

Whew! I couldn’t believe I was retelling the story instead of making a proper review. For me it’s just too awesome that I couldn’t help it, as if I was affected by the cat statue’s power too. It’s interesting to see how an ojousama like Azusa being ‘defeated’ though I’d love to see Tsukushi being defeated as well (nowhere in the first episode tells that she is Tsukiko’s big sister, I got the info from wiki). BTW I hate Tsukiko’s “whispering-like” voice and for me it doesn’t fit her expressionless appearance (being expression doesn;t mean the voice has to sound like she is whispering all the time DAMMIT!).

Well I guess the voice part is the only thing I hate about this anime. The graphics are fine and the song/music are quite matching too. Not sure though if there are people complaining about this anime being made by JC Staff but I have no problem with it at all.
