My preferred “Killing Goods”

A 'victim' (more like an 'Instead') for a Killing Goods in the form of a Book of Justice.

So I just watched Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge ep. 04 yesterday and once again the thought of having my ‘trademark’ weapon came up in my mind. The last time I was thinking of the same thing was when I was watching Puella Magi Madoka Magica. I have seen people giving the “6th magical girl” in Madoka Magica doujin a war axe or war hammer and to be honest I’m out of any idea of what magical weapon would be best to suit me as a mahou shounen.

Iwai-chan was so cute that it could make me kill somebody! Lucky I don't have a "Killing Goods' with me (yet)!

Iwai-chan was so cute that it could make me kill somebody! Lucky I don’t have a “Killing Goods’ with me (yet)!

Initially my preferred magical weapon was fighting gloves similar to those worn by Tifa Lockhart (FFVII) and Zell Dincht (FFVIII) because I’m a close-combat type fighter (after all my magic was space and gravity manipulation so a long-range target should not be a problem either). Besides using just punches and kicks would suite me better as a “rogue hero” (Hagure Yuusha no Estetica anyone?). However I was thinking what if I still need a proper weapon but still retain my reputation as a rogue hero?

An oppailicious (but blind) 'Author'. This woman uses a piano to kill people, no kidding.

An oppailicious (but blind) ‘Author’. This woman uses a piano to kill people, no kidding.

Then a pickaxe came to my mind. One influence I could attribute to for this idea would be Akane Isshiki (Vividred Operation) using a boomerang as her weapon. When I think about it a pickaxe could kill and I could use it as a throwing weapon too, which makes long-range target not a problem at all (and as a mahou shounen I could create virtually unlimited of them, just like Mami-san)!

A 'victim' (more like an 'Instead') for a Killing Goods in the form of a Book of Justice.

A ‘victim’ (more like an ‘Instead’) for a Killing Goods in the form of a Book of Justice.

Some might argue that a pickaxe is not a ‘proper’ weapon. This is where Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge come into the picture again. In episode 03 the sledgehammer used by one criminal to hunt Iwai-chan wasn’t a ‘proper’ weapon either but who cares if it, as a “Killing Good” can be used as a weapon, just like how you can use a kitchen knife to kill people although that isn’t what it was intended for? Also in this episode 04 we even saw another two “very unlikely” Killing Goods; a piano and a book.

As a “Killing Good” it’s scary to think that music from a piano and words from a book could kill too. Just remember in episode 03 Kiri used his scissors to ‘cut’ his opponent so easily as if he was cutting through hair or a piece of paper. That’s the power of “Killing Goods”; just imagine if I have a pair of pickaxes with that power. I’d be very awesome as a mahou shounen and also as a rogue hero.

{Review} Yuyushiki ep. 01

All three main characters: Yuzuko (on bed), Yukari (on table) and Yui (standing).

Yuyushiki is yet another slice-of-laifu you might or might not want to watch. If you think you can watch a fusion of Nichijou and keion then this show is probably for you. It’s cute’ if you think it is but for other people which includes myself, the annoyances I got from it were overwhelming the cuteness.

A cat is mandatory for cuteness. It's the numero uno rule!

A cat is mandatory for cuteness. It’s the numero uno rule!

The art somehow resembles Nichijou though they’re not from the same creator. Both of them however are 4-koma manga in their original material. Being a slice-of-laifu anime you can expect this to be funny though not as funny as Nichijou if I were to compare both shows.

All three main characters: Yuzuko (on bed), Yukari (on table) and Yui (standing).

For me the ‘cute’ parts look deliberate and not natural at all, which looks like a failed formula to me. Sure I like cute girls but I hate it if they deliberately doing cute things in a cute way for the sake of looking cute. They should have focused on making their natural cuteness noticeable instead of trying to shove deliberate cuteness up our faces! BTW I like the ending theme song which immediately becomes my favorite.

This scene reminds me a lot about the Nichijou anime (not the manga).

I’m thinking of starting a magazine-style blogging but I have not set target for when I will start so it will probably be as early as next month. By doing a magazine-style blogging I’d be able to include non-anime stuff without having to sacrifice the reputation of this blog as an anime blog. However in order to do a magazine-style blogging I’d have to be as neutral as I could because I believe magazine is a more pure form of journalism than blogging and it must not pick sides. That said I will have a more toned-down rage but will still retain criticism whenever necessary.

Did I unconsciously learn Japanese for the past 10 years?

[Anime-Koi] Dakara Boku wa, H ga Dekinai. - OVA [BD][h264-720p][A8E911F7].mkv_stitch_11.36_[2013.04.03_18.58.54]

I have more than 20 years of anime-watching experience, probably as early as I was 5 or so. Back then I have no interest in western cartoon but I didn’t know the term people are using to refer to anime so I just call them “Japanese cartoon”, at least until I was 15 when the emergence of locally-published anime magazines started to popularize it. However it took me another 5 years to start watching anime in their original Japanese audio, and that was solely thanks to digital distribution of fansubbed anime. Although local TVs did air a substantial number of anime since the 80′s it was only in 2007 that they started to take initiative to air them in the original Japanese audio. Haruhi season 1 was among the first few titles to air in Japanese language instead of Malay-dub. In fact even Gundam SEED which was aired in 2005 was dubbed too.

I watched Dakara Boku wa H ga Dekinai OVA a few hours ago, using MPC-HC player. Last night I turned off the player’s subtitle feature because I was watching a movie (of which subtitle was unnecessary) and forgot to tun it back on. However when I watched the anime I  realized that the subtitle was turned off only after 15 minutes of watching it. Then I got this strange feeling that I was watching the anime without the need for the subtitle as if I was fluent in Japanese. Usually I would realize the subtitle was off the first time a line was spoken in the anime but it was not the case just now. It made me think if I’ve had learned Japanese unknowingly all this time after consuming too much anime in their original Japanese audio. Too bad I could not recreate the situation but if only it was true then it would be great since that would enable me to enjoy my anime more.

Since I mentioned about Boku-H OVA then here are some sexy poses by Lisara in her preparation for a swimsuit contest. Enjoy!

[Review] “Revenge – Raep” (Campione ep. 12)

[HorribleSubs] Campione! - 12 [480p].mkv_snapshot_17.41_[2012.09.22_17.42.48]

Revenge Raep

Raep in progress. If you looked at episode 01 this could be seen as return-raep too.

It seems like every anime series lately have at least one raep episode, just like most of them try to include at least one bathroom/onsen/mizugi/beach episode with each new season. However it’s been  a while since I last saw any raep scene in newer anime probably because I skipped a number of big titles for this summer anime season. Just a matter of fact I nearly gave up to wait for raep episode now that summer anime season is going to an end but then suddenly this happened and I was delighted.

It may look as if Ena is raeping Godou here but the truth is it was the other way round.

Yes the “King” has finally unleashed his hidden desires that even he was never aware of it himself. At the beginning Erica was fighting Ena for his sake while he was suddenly dragged into the strange world of between life and death. The truth is all that was orchestrated by the King himself as he planned to make Erica exhausted. Although at first it appeared as if he was saving her, he took the chance to raep Ena as well after defeating her in the decisive battle, defeating another ‘god’ in the process. That’s the way of the ‘King’!

One of the King’s earlier raep victim.

[Art(?)] The Art of Manipulation

[Art(?)] The Art of Manipulation

Since I had a lot of free time during the holidays, I decided to do this for fun. When I speak of manipulation, I am meaning to say that it is concerning people rather than anything else (or maybe data, or the likes, but they mostly pertain to manipulation of the human kind). Manipulating people is an art. Not only that, it’s a subtle art that not many can do well, if at all. The ones that you’re manipulating should never realize that they’re being manipulated. Truly skilled manipulators can manipulate people without them realizing it until the very end. The only way for them to know that they were being manipulated is for them to be told that they were manipulated.

“How might one start?”, you might ask. Now, a good start to manipulating people is to have a large vocabulary (and if you don’t, at least have one or two dictionaries at hand [read: semantics]). Also, if you’re one of the lucky ones, the internet is the best resource that you can possibly have. You should really learn semantics, or at least, have a good knowledge of what you’re saying, as well as what they’re saying. There’re people who can subconsciously manipulate others, but there aren’t that many people who can do that (if there were even any to begin with). To manipulate is “to control or influence cleverly or unscrupulously”. Big words, I assure you, I had to look through a few dictionaries to know what they meant.

Moving on, it’s very easy to escape from being manipulated. It’s called, thinking. If you would just think hard enough, or know enough about manipulation, it would be very difficult to be manipulated, which brings me to the very reason as to why I wrote this piece in the first place; to share the knowledge of the art that I am very much fond of (but is in no way good at).

If you’ve read my profile (as I’m sure no one does), you’ll see that I have stated that I have ‘expertise in manipulating the human mind’. I can’t manipulate you if you didn’t let me manipulate you in the first place, but in saying that, I am meaning to say that you trust my words. Yes, trust. It is the very core of manipulation. However, without it, nothing can be accomplished, but with it, much harm can be done. Common sense is very much high in demand in these cases of trust, but what is common to one, may be strange and unheard of to another.

A society is built upon many kinds of trust; trust in one another, trust in the systems that comprise it, trust in religion, trust in the common customs of the people, and perhaps other kinds of trust that I do not know of. Upon societies, governments and countries make up the world, in which people live their day to day lives. Some countries claim to be communists, when they’re actually more of a dictatorship than communism (if you do a lot of read into what communism is about, you’ll see my point), while there are some that claims to be a democracy, while in fact, they’re being more of a monarchy than an actual democracy, republics that claim to be democracy (if you’ve read my piece on democracy, you’ll know that an actual democracy is impossible unless there is less centralization, but with less centralization, implementation becomes more difficult), and many other things that are simply not true uttered by the many countries that make up the world.

But, enough of that. I could go on all day without actually furthering the art of manipulation. What they all have in common is that, they all manipulate their people into believing things that aren’t true. Some of the people know, some think they know, while some are completely ignorant. Some are happy to be ignorant, but the true thinkers are not ones to be satisfied by lies. Though, as Adolf Hitler once said, “The great masses of the people are more likely to fall for a big lie, than a small one.” Speaking of Hitler, he’s probably one of the most successful manipulator that history ever knew (or at least, the most notorious of them all. There were many others that I could not mention, but hey, history is, his (or her) story).

To those who understood my points, congrats, and to those who didn’t (assuming that there’s anyone who’s been on the internet not long enough to do so), don’t fret; stay on the internet long enough and you’ll know enough.

My first ever “web comic“.

Oh no, don’t get me wrong. I have no intention to rival The Oatmeal (if that’ is what you think I am doing), and I am not expecting this to be circulating into a meme either. I’m just doing this to show you my perspective as someone who used to have an iPhone, before I committed myself to Android.

[Interpost] Celebritism

Mikupan.... Oh no! I'm supposed to talk about "celebritism" here (>_

My thoughts about celebrity and related stuff

Mikupan…. Oh no! I’m supposed to talk about “celebritism” here (>_<)

I don’t coin the term ‘celebritism’ and it has existed long before I thought about it (don’t believe me? Google it and you’ll find notable entries in the search result). In my own words celebritism is what I think is ‘fakery’, ‘manufactured’ and some sort of marketing ploy. I’m saying this because I know all celebrities faked their appearance, I mean if they are not then why would people want to know about their real life so badly (which implies that people unconsciously know they’re seeing a ‘fakery’).

My ideas of celebritism is I only interested to know how the celebrity is doing his/her job and how well he/she is doing it. I don’t care about their real life, who they’re going out with, their birthday, their hobbies, etc. I mean it’s their job that is supposed to be entertaining us, not their life. That said I’m not into those celebritism hypes like the AKB48. I do admit that I like Kalafina as a girl band but that’s where I stop; I don’t look around for news or gossip about them because I think that’s stupid.

Maybe I should just say that I don’t really care about 3D celebrities as I think 2D celebrities like Miku is way better and not disgusting like those ‘pigs’. For 2D characters, although they’re really ‘manufactured’ and ‘marketed’, they’re not ‘fakery’ because that is their nature, that is what they are. They have no “real life” to follow because their ‘job’ is their ‘life’, and the most important thing is they are immune from wild gossips and scandals, which makes them superior by default.

Joshiraku: So much to enjoy yet not that much to write about.

Well I may have said those things above although I know that those ‘virtual’ are voiced by real people behind them. However I see them nothing more than being ordinary person doing their job and in the end its the characters, those 2D celebrities that matters. Let’s take Joshiraku for example, a show ‘heavy’ of ‘light’ dialogues yet I don’t really care who are the voice actresses behind those cute girls as long as the job is well done without much noticeable defects. Oh yeah just so you know those ‘virtual’ celebrities are not fake. They are more ‘real’ than your favorite 3D celebrities.

[On 2nd thought] Joshiraku

Joshiraku ep. 03

Joshiraku is not meant for foreigners?

Joshiraku ep. 03

If you see this, don’t get the wrong idea that you think I can speak Japanese and are able to enjoy anime without subtitles. What troubles me is those who know Japanese and can enjoy Joshiraku without subtitles are trolling people who don’t know Japanese, often with name-calling. Yeah those trolls are stupid for saying assuming that this show is not meant to be subtitles because it is full of Japanese puns that would require native-level of Japanese language to get it. I’m not saying that they’re wrong with the pun part but the main point in this show is how those girls began talking about a certain topic eventually evolved into a completely different topic, thanks to the puns leading to different paths with each conversation. That means the puns, regardless they’re funny or not (and no matter how many of them in an episode), only serve as medium for transition between topics, which is what this series is mainly about. Therefore I don’t give a damn about not getting it, as long as the main points reached me. Sure without understanding those puns what I’d get in the end is half or less of all the jokes inside but who cares? It doesn’t matter and it’s not a big deal. Half of the show is also about visual entertainment that doesn’t rely on those puns and the most important thing is I’m not blind.

Will I write more reviews for Joshiraku?

Joshiraku ep. 04

The answer is no; not because I don’t want to or the show lacks awesome snapshots (which is not the case at all) but there’s no ‘story’ to write an episode review. Just so you know this is not the first time I’m not writing episodic reviews for my favorite series and one of the most recent shows is Acchi Kocchi. However I will keep sharing galleries from time to time and I hope no subbers give up this series yet or I might need to resume learning Japanese again.

[Not anime] Windows sucks, and so does Linux (Why I’m still using Windows)

guilty-life-time-linux-os-pc-microsoft-bad-fault-irony-fun-u-demotivational-poster-1253382772

I found that both Windows and Linux are equally suck. Neither one of them is better or superior to the other. Because of that then my choice would be based on the users, where the one with nicer users win. In this case I found Windows users are nicer than most Linux users I’ve met offline/online because they have no emotional attachment towards Windows, neither they are loyal. They use it not as a fan but as a user, they don’t think they’re special for using it. Name-calling, flaming, trolling is pretty much non-existent among them when it comes to Windows-related discussion.

Among Windows users they rarely compare Windows with Linux for the sake of saying Linux is bad. They have no reason to do that and they don’t have to. Linux fans usually say “Windows breaks on a frequent basis and it’s Windows’ fault. In Linux when things break it’s your fault”. This is bullshit. Whether the system breaks by itself or we broke it, the point is we’d have to take care of it whenever something broken, regardless it’s Windows or Linux. Linux is no special in that sense. Unless it can fix itself, I don’t think there’s anything in Linux that I can brag about and feel proud of.

Windows sucks is not enough of a reason for me to give it up completely, let alone to switch to Linux. I see Linux is equally sucks so there’s no point in switching to it. Linux may not break by itself (assuming that Windows does break itself that often) but even if it’s our own fault that it breaks it would still as frustrating as in Windows when that happens. My experience in Linux is there is no such thing is everything runs perfectly the first time upon installation. Whether it’s Linux or Windows both would require a certain level of manual configuration at some point. Taylor-made, cookie-cutter system like Mac OS X is an exception but it’s not accessible by the mass.
