The stupid way of replying to a support request

This is why I hate it when requesting help in American support forum. The people there may be very helpful but most of them are jerks.

The other day I was requesting for a way to reset Akismet stat, of which is now irrelevant to me that I have implemented an automated way to discard spam comments in this blog, but that CAPTCHA-based method still relies on Akismet’s AI and Bayesian filter to recognize the spam. However Akismet is required in that method only if the spambot passed the CAPTCHA test, of which none of them succeed since the past few months.

In my request in that support forum I politely asking if it’s possible to reset the Akismet stat. I did mention something like “if you have something that you know then share, but if you don’t know anything then don’t bother to reply” without giving any specific reason of why I wanted to do that in the first place though, because for me it doesn’t matter. I was just expecting as many answer/method to get the job done, regardless of the reason. Then the first reply I got is from a jerk who keep insisting to know exactly my reason of doing it.

Man why does that relevant? Not only that I even got replies saying “why bother?” and “the stat doesn’t hurt so why don’t you just keep it there?” as well as “the stat is something helpful to you as the admin so it’s pointless to reset it”.

That is what I call a stupid reply to a help request. I clearly stated that if you know something then tell me but if you don’t then just keep quiet. Heh! I guess those idiots will never listen and understand. They replied because they want to look cool or supportive although the fact is they only show their stupidity. The answer to a “yes/no” question is either “yes” or “no”, not something else, you idiot.

Does hating iPhone iPad iPod automatically makes me…

Does hating iPhone/iPad/iPod automatically makes me an Android fan? No, that kind of logic is FAIL. In fact I’d still hate iXXX even if Android wasn’t there. The truth is I have issues with Android too like it’s not fit to carry the Linux label and incapable of running Linux apps (despite the much bragged point of being based on Linux, open source, etc), as well as some other stuff. However I have greater issues with iXXX. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not just Apple but also all other elite brands that claim to be the best, keep talking big and refused to admit/recognize/acknowledge it when ‘cheaper’ brands surpassed them (in a better way) in many terms.

So what would I do if there was no Android? Of course I’d root for Symbian. No, I won’t go for WinMobile (or WP7 for that matter) as I have similar issues with WinMobile as I do with iXXX. If there was no Android and people don’t like iXXX of course Symbian would be the king as those people would go for it, boosting its development and sales, unlike the current situation.

So if I care so much about Symbian then why do I hypocritically root for Android today? No, it’s not about being hypocrite, it’s about which one has a brighter future. I’m a practical person. I know iXXX has a bright future too but for it to force its users into a closed ecosystem is not something that I can live with. At least BlackBerry doesn’t have similar ecosystem, which is why I’m more compatible with BB than iXXX.

BTW I might have liked iPhone if it was a classic-iPodish looking phone rather than the touchscreen one. I understand Apple want to make it more than just a phone, hence the smartphone moniker but I think it was overkill on that time. I hope the rumor about Apple making a budget iPhone is true, and I hope it will have physical keypad just like a normal phone. After all I have a hard time to call a phone without keypad as a phone, even if it’s Android/Symbian.

The good thing about iPhone is it has only 2,3 form factor that 3rd party manufacturers have no problem in designing complementary devices/accessories for it. Well, it can be a good or bad thing, just like how the availability of different models/specs of Android phone becomes a good thing for different target groups. Anyways, I think for Linux (the real one, not Android) to conquer tablets as well, the software (apps) need to be touch optimized too. In other words, Linux needs to be less dependent on CLI and improve the GUI into touch interface.

So the question is not about what I love when I hate another.

I had an argument with a friend of…

I had an argument with a friend of mine who was dissatisfied with me not liking the anime he love so much. He said “I know, you’re hating it because you haven’t watched it enough”. Then I replied sarcastically by saying “actually it’s more like you don’t hate it because you’re not really into it”. For me, although he appear to love that anime so deeply, it is more like “surface love” only.

Some people is hating the word loli just…

Some people is hating the word loli just because it’s seemingly replaces the word for child in anime fandom along with the automatic sexualityt that comes with it. What? Then people can people can hate the word anime because it simply replaces the word animation and comes with the automatic association to Japan? Whatever it is, that sure is one LAME/STUPID reasoning.

A Memorable Job Interview

The job interview I'm going to tell you here is not memorable because it's something that I can't forget. It's something that I HAVEN'T FORGET because it's still new and fresh in my mind. To tell you the truth since the 10 years I've only been to job interviews not more than 5 times. I'm worry about the small number because I believe it's necessary to have enough experience in job interviews. That said, it sometimes helps too if we failed at job interviews so that we'd know how to prepare our self better for the future job interview.

I hate this job

The most recent job interview that I had is for a position as an assistant customs officer. It is a moderately-paid job with pretty much the same amount of salary as my current job right now. One of the reasons why I chose to apply the job is because it would require me to be always on traveling (which means I'd get more traveling claim). Actually I've never expected to be shortlisted for the interview because as far as I can remember I submitted the application a couple of years ago. The result has yet to be announced though but I really hope I'd get that job because I feel like to resign from my current job as quickly as possible (yeah I hate it, really).

Three Countries I’d Like to Visit (and why)

I'm not really a travel and adventurous type of a person but believe me deep within myself I still have some desire to visit foreign countries. Don't get me wrong, it's not like I hate my own country or I love some other country more but think of it like visiting your neighbors. Throughout my life I've been dreaming of visiting other countries, especially the European countries. However things changed as I grow up. As of now I've included Asian countries too.

CeBIT WEBCIETY I find it good.

The first country I'd like to visit someday is Germany. This has nothing to do with my dream of visiting European country but mainly because I'd like to pay a visit to the world's biggest IT trade show, CeBIT at Hanover. I'm a gadget freak and CeBIT is the mecca for all gadget freaks. I also would like to visit the Fraunhofer Institute, the birthplace of mp3. Yes, it's all about the technological stuff.

Next I'd like to visit Japan, particularly Akihabara, Tokyo, which is the mecca for anime otaku. Unlike Germany (where many people are fluent in English) visiting Japan would be a problem for me, especially when it comes to communication. Let's hope I'll have a good guide then. Anyways, for all the love I have for anime/manga/games/figma I should not let that to stop me. Although I can't imagine I'd be visiting Japan anytime soon I think I should start learning some Japanese now. It would be useful too even if I'd never visit Japan.

Last but not least, I'd like to visit Israel/Palestine/Iran (either one will do). No particular reason but strangely I'm so attached to those Middle-East countries. It's probably because my ancestors came from there. Yes, I'd like to track my ancestry line someday. Just hope that peace will come to the Holy Land soon.

Oh my goth I really don’t get it. There…

Oh my goth I really don’t get it. There are people who think it’s bad and ‘monopolistic’ for Microsoft to be an all-rounder tech company, say, if they’re making their own hardware (PC) and make Windows exclusively for it. However they would think it’s great or perfectly fine for Apple to be an all-rounder tech company who made Mac OS X vendor-locked with their Macintosh machines only all this time. Isn’t that a bit biased to say Apple can do that while Microsoft can’t? Isn’t it a bit unfair too for Microsoft here? As far as I can remember, the same hate sentiment towards Microsoft also once happened to IBM as well, when they still have the PC division with them. They made OS/2 for their PC platform (which they already lost control on their own platform by that time) and gained the “Big Blue” moniker for trying to be an all-rounder (they’re a long-running company after all). Well, it wasn’t hate until some people came up with the 3B (Big ‘Bad’ Blue), implying that IBM is an evil company.

There’s no way hate could be this enjoyable

There are times I seriously got pissed-off of female anime characters, mostly the violent, tsundere-type ones like Hitagi Senjougahara (Bakemonogatari), Hinagiku Katsura (Hayate no Gotoku), Rin Tousaka (Fate/Stay-Night), Kirino Kousaka (OreImo) and many more too long to be listed here. So how do I balance my hatred towards them and at the same time not to affect my love towards anime? Easy, I’ll just enjoy watching them get raeped in h-doujin ad I’ll forgot that I hate them for a moment.

The worst logic some “genius” moe fans have taught me

How I wish I could use ad hominem to attack those “genius” moe fans by saying “you’re no good at maths, that’s why you love moe like ‘genius’”, but I’m not that kind of person (though having mentioned about it here means deep inside I do have the intention but I didn’t go that far but instead only went as far as sharing what I thought here). Here are the logics that are deemed as flawless by those “genius” moe fans:

  1. If there are moe in an anime then the anime is a moe anime, also true for all slice-of-life anime.
  2. Keion is moe. If people hate keion then they hate moe.
  3. Keion is an anime. Keion is moe. Then moe is anime.
  4. Keion is moe. Keion is an anime. If people hate keion then they hate anime.

Below is the 5th one and probably the most complicated of all the logics:

Keion is an anime. Keion is moe. There are people who hate keion so those people also hate anime and moe. Later comes new anime. There are moe in that anime so it is a moe anime. But people who hate keion also like this new anime. Those people are hypocrite because they hate anime and moe since they hate keion but they take a liking to this new anime which is a moe anime because it contains moe. Their interest in this new anime should never be approved unless they start learning to love keion and drop their hatred towards it. Well, perhaps they seem to take a liking towards this new anime because they hope to find flaws that they could use to attack moe, so we should never see their interest in this anime as pure and without any bad intention. Also they keep denying that this new anime is not a moe anime. Yes, they are just in denial because they are just biting their tongue since they once hated moe (in the form of keion and some other slice of life drama like lucky star).

Lets not forget about the 6th one:

Moe to us is like the sex scenes in hentai anime, where the story does not matter.

Or it could be turned into this:

Moe anime has to be that way because it serves a different purpose than “serious anime” does. It’s similar to the way hentai anime is intended for.

Last but not least, since hentai is mentioned above then the 7th one is worth a mention too:

Excessive fanservice in anime is a distraction even if the anime has proper story. Excessive moe in anime is an attention even if the anime has no story.
