The stupid way of replying to a support request

This is why I hate it when requesting help in American support forum. The people there may be very helpful but most of them are jerks.

The other day I was requesting for a way to reset Akismet stat, of which is now irrelevant to me that I have implemented an automated way to discard spam comments in this blog, but that CAPTCHA-based method still relies on Akismet’s AI and Bayesian filter to recognize the spam. However Akismet is required in that method only if the spambot passed the CAPTCHA test, of which none of them succeed since the past few months.

In my request in that support forum I politely asking if it’s possible to reset the Akismet stat. I did mention something like “if you have something that you know then share, but if you don’t know anything then don’t bother to reply” without giving any specific reason of why I wanted to do that in the first place though, because for me it doesn’t matter. I was just expecting as many answer/method to get the job done, regardless of the reason. Then the first reply I got is from a jerk who keep insisting to know exactly my reason of doing it.

Man why does that relevant? Not only that I even got replies saying “why bother?” and “the stat doesn’t hurt so why don’t you just keep it there?” as well as “the stat is something helpful to you as the admin so it’s pointless to reset it”.

That is what I call a stupid reply to a help request. I clearly stated that if you know something then tell me but if you don’t then just keep quiet. Heh! I guess those idiots will never listen and understand. They replied because they want to look cool or supportive although the fact is they only show their stupidity. The answer to a “yes/no” question is either “yes” or “no”, not something else, you idiot.

A Recent Epiphany

Have you ever had an "Aha!" moment? More specifically did such thing happened to you recently? What sparked it? I had mine too though it's not really recently (I can't really remember any recent "Aha!" moment that happened to me). Anyways it did happen.

Idea’s Interrupted

For me that "Aha!" is a moment of I got an idea or vision of what I should do (from wikipedia, it's "a sudden realization or comprehension of the (larger) essence or meaning of something). In other words, some sort of a moment of discovery, but not really the "Eureka!" though. Since the beginning of the 2nd-half of last year I've been using both postpaid and prepaid internet at the same time. After a few months of using them I came to realize that it's more cost effective to use the prepaid internet over the ridiculously restrictive postpaid version. I feel bad though (sorta) because I didn't think of that earlier.

By the last 3 months of 2010, Ive completely stopped relying on the postpaid internet and decided to use prepaid version all the way. It saves me a lot of time and money. The best part about it is I can get unlimited bandwidth (as opposed to the postpaid internet which has the 5GB/mo traffic limit) albeit at a bit lower speed. However I've gotten used to it and I can enjoy my anime and online needs without having to worry about exhausting my monthly quota like I used to be. Now I can enjoy the internet with more peace of mind.

Oh my goth I really don’t get it. There…

Oh my goth I really don’t get it. There are people who think it’s bad and ‘monopolistic’ for Microsoft to be an all-rounder tech company, say, if they’re making their own hardware (PC) and make Windows exclusively for it. However they would think it’s great or perfectly fine for Apple to be an all-rounder tech company who made Mac OS X vendor-locked with their Macintosh machines only all this time. Isn’t that a bit biased to say Apple can do that while Microsoft can’t? Isn’t it a bit unfair too for Microsoft here? As far as I can remember, the same hate sentiment towards Microsoft also once happened to IBM as well, when they still have the PC division with them. They made OS/2 for their PC platform (which they already lost control on their own platform by that time) and gained the “Big Blue” moniker for trying to be an all-rounder (they’re a long-running company after all). Well, it wasn’t hate until some people came up with the 3B (Big ‘Bad’ Blue), implying that IBM is an evil company.

What I’m Avoiding

Generally speaking, I hate anything that gets in my way. Although I tend to avoid everything that I hate, if those things that I hate are happen to get in my way I'll face them because I feel like it. I'll keep harassing them until they get out of my way or until they follow my way. But all that has nothing to do with what I'm avoiding as per what explanation below.

Chuck Norris (1)

20 things that I'm avoiding:

1. Chuck Norris

He is the sum of all fears. Nobody in the right mind would voluntarily face him unless you're ready to be roundhouse-kicked out from this universe to another dimension. By the way he is the only one here that I avoid not because I hate him but rather because he's too awesome.

2. Gays (that includes lesbos, yaoi and yuri)

Because I'll never know when they will assault me. Actually all gays should never be born in the first place because it's hypocritical if you are happy for being born but you yourself will never reproduce with your same-sex partner.

3. Atheists (and/or free thinkers, but not including pagans)

All they're doing is bitching and complaining and whining about God laws governing them, such as restrictions for gay marriage. Heck! Marriage is a religion thing to begin with so why must they being noisy about it when it has nothing to do with what they believe?

4. iFags (a.k.a. Apple fanboys/loyalists)

They think they are special just because they own a Mac/iPod/iPhone/iPad. Well, I'm not stylish (or stupid) enough to own iProducts. Even my T-shirts are bought from roadside stalls where I can get 3 for only 10 bucks.

5. Facebook

Although I used to be a Fagsbook user too it doesn't mean I love it to the point that I will never leave it. With tons of online doppelgangers inside it can be too annoying when people keep mistaking me as their acquaintance.

6. Feminazi

I don't mind with feminists if they keep it to the moderate level but most of the time those extremists feminazis will relate everything that seems not favoring their kind as "discrimination against women" even if it's just a simple thing like a guy trying to correct his girlfriend's mistakes by telling her what she's supposed to do (purely from his point of view, without resorting to any violence at all).

7. CLI (it stands for Command Line Interface, not the cli that you know)

I don't see any reason to prefer CLI over GUI (Graphical User Interface) when GUI is available. It may be faster and easier to code than GUI but with only a few milliseconds difference, coupled with the fact that computers today are powerful enough that some of them reaching the point of being overkill, it doesn't make sense anymore for power user to keep relying on it.

8. Bustin Jieber, Gady Laga, Ciley Myrus, Ladam Ambert (blahblah! You name it)

The words are not enough for me to describe just how "hate-able" those people are that I have to 'avoid' writing their names properly. Perhaps it's enough if I just say that by default all American artists deserve a rejection from me. Of course there are a few exceptions but this is only applicable to those who are exceptionally good, though that kind of artists are endangered species that are as rare as chicken's teeth.

9. Korean entertainment

It's not that I hate them by default but I can't easily forget how they steal everybody's attention while people are still enjoying Japanese entertainment (not limited to J-drama and J-rock/J-pop songs). If not people might have better terms with anime today. And I can't understand why there are significant number of anime fans like them as well when they have nothing to do with anime in the first place. Maybe those people are just confused between Korean and Japanese?

10. You

Yes, you. I hate you and I found that everything about you is "hate-able" like your musical preferences, the anime you watch, your friends, how you speak/write, your reactions towards me and even the websites you visit. I hate you too much to the point that I have to avoid writing down the names of all of you here, so it can't be helped. However you should feel 'honored' for being hated by me, because it's not easy to get my hate. In fact some people are dying or even died just for trying to get me to hate them. Yes, those people just love to be hated by me, and in return, along with the hatred, I respect them too for struggling for my hate and living up to their masochistic nature.

"HEY HALFEY WHERE ARE THE OTHER 10 DAMMIT?!" you asked? Sorry but I hate them too much that I have to 'avoid' writing them here as well.

(13/30 people avoid me for no apparent/real reason or simply just because they can't afford to face me alive)

The World Would Be a Better Place If… (part II)

The world would be a better place if we could make cigars and smoking habit completely vanished. I was a smoker too and I start smoking when I was still a teenager. However I managed to quit even before I graduated from my high school, and completely quit before I reach 20. Now I hate cigars and smoking. The truth about smoking is it turns one into a loser because addiction is a characteristic of a loser. Don’t agree with me? Then you’re wrong.

No Smoking

Smoking is a ‘deliberate’ addiction. What I mean by deliberate here is, the addiction is ‘created’ because as far as I know, unlike more stronger drugs like morphine, heroine and cocaine, nicotine by itself is not very addictive in nature. In other words, addiction towards smoking will not happen if one smoke only once or twice, unless one doing it repetitively to the point of addiction. So it’s actually an avoidable addiction.

Why do people smoke anyway? Like I said above I was a smoker myself when I was still in high school. After I quit smoking I did asked myself the above question. My answer is “I just feel like too”. Implying that most other smokers also share the same answer, I must say most smokers don’t have any real reason for smoking, and even if they do, chances are they just came up with it to as excuses to rationalize why they smoke.

Actually smoking addiction is just a bad habit and not really addiction actually. What I’m talking here is, there are already many alternatives for nicotine delivery system out there, like nicotine pills, nicotine chewing gums, nicotine patch, and even nicotine inhaler, if nicotine is what those smokers really need. But most of them chose not to switch, because of the unreasonable fear they have; they can’t imagine life without smoking!

Why the hell is that? It’s because puffing a cigar is a HABIT. If they really want to satisfy their addiction they can just use any of the alternatives mentioned above but they didn’t because for them nothing can match the ‘coolness’ of lighting a cigar, holding it with two fingers, putting the filter-end between the lips, inhaling the smoke and blowing the smoke. Believe me doing that ain’t cool; it’s stupid, and I know I was stupid too.

People said there’s no use to ban smoking because people will still do it anyway and work around it. That’s bullsh1t. Hey! Speeding on the legal road is also against the law but why people still do illegal racing there? The point is not about the banning itself, because both smoking and illegal racing are damaging in nature and people will always try to do it. However we can’t just let people keep damaging their own life without doing a thing.

(55/57 smokers got angry after reading this post and swear will smoke to death as a protest)

Me, as a Teen (part II)

This is the 'memoir' about how I looked like in my teenage. However it will only cover my life between my 13th to 19th years of life. I'd have included 11th and 12th but since there is not 'teen' in them (we pronounce them as 'eleventh' and 'twelfth' respectively) and the 'teen' only started from 'thirteen', so I have them omitted. Well, the 'teen' starts with 13 so I guess that's one of the reasons why 13 is always a special (luck or curse) everywhere.

Delightful group of teens – Two Girls shown here – Beach Scenes at Morro Bay, CA

(Take note: the picture above is just a picture. I AM a man.)

Between my 13th – 15th, I looked like a pure, innocent kid. I attract people everywhere and I could easily get their money too by acting cutely. You can pretty much say that I was like Bustin Jieber and I believe if I am 13 right now I am sure people would be annoyed of me as much as how they are annoyed of Bustin Jieber. In school I used that as a weapon, and as the result, I got many “big sisters”. The advantages? I can have free meals and sex.

During my 15th – 17th, I was like a person that will kill you if I am not happy with you being in my sight. During this time I have killed more people than the average of one POW did in World War II. Yes, killing people was my hobby on that time, and it was fun to see blood splashing, limbs flying and headless bodies rolling. And I don't waste those bodies since I'm quite an environmentalist. So what I did with those dead bodies? I consume them of course.

And finally in my 17th – 19th, which is the final part of my teenage life episode. During this time I have become a fully grown women-magnet. I was so hot that I got many offers for underwear modeling, nude modeling at art colleges as well as to perform in pornos. Not to mention many women offer their bodies to me for one night stand. And I did all that, I mean who in the right mind would reject free money and sex? After all teenage life is supposed to be enjoyed to it's fullest, right?

(1/5 teenagers don't realize that by enjoying their teenage life to it's fullest, they have shortened their lifespan by half)

Sometimes (many times) We Fight – Part II

And the fight continues…

Kangaroo fight

Mr. Chump Change: your [ very noticeable ] lack of dedication is what makes you far from being a touhou fan, and thus to call yourself a fan of touhou nevertheless is a hasty assumption, not just from the POV of them legit touhou fanboys, but also from the eyes of an outsider like myself as well. you too should have understood this very well.

Halfey: How could you say there are ‘legitimate’ and ‘illegitimate’ fans out there when all that we need is interest? Dedication? You mean I have to beg and steal and borrow or even break the bank just to show how much I’m dedicated? No, I don’t need that. They are interested to play the games then they are a fan. I’m interested in the design and derivative works then I’m also a fan too. It’s just that we show our love in different ways.

(Note: When Mr. Chump Change uses the [...] it literally means he is whispering or mind-talking or even using telepathy. Then Mr. Chump Change started to call me ‘sir’ out of spite.)

Mr. Chump Change: frankly sir, bandwidth limitation is not an issue here. even i who had to coup with the frequent un-stability of my ISP [ not to mention the time when i still haven't had internet installed to my room ] could obtain all those that i desired [ greatest example on this were the numerous eroges i've acquired from time to time ] by through of a well thought download management system. well its kinda like playing them RPG, there’s always a few ways to work around such obstacles as long as you had the dedication to penetrate through them :3

Halfey: I know what you’re trying to say is “work around it” but does that mean you’re implying that I must do things the same way you do so that you could accept my reasoning? My life is already divided into many small portions of which I have to dedicate my self to all of them fairly, and anime is just one of them, which happen to cover one of my many interests. So what you really need to hear from me is a reason right? Well, that won’t going to happen because whatever reason I’d state for that, regardless they’re strong or not, chances are you are not gonna buy them since they’re not in favor of your interest.

(Note: When Mr. Chump Change uses the “:3″ it literally means he is acting cutely no matter how meanie he is, though in this ‘fight’ he actually only act cutely and not being meanie.)

Mr. Chump Change: in regard to the second case of the argument above; the stated so-called ‘double standard’ exist because you aren’t making a solid sense in your stance, which will only lead to those who got irked to view you more as a drone in the bandwagon rather than a critic with a reason, thus their insistence to reject your views.

Halfey: What’s the point of arguing over points that are only valid to myself? For me, what I need in order to love or hate something is a reason, anything regardless they’re strong or weak. As long as I have reasons that’s enough. And why fuss over reasons that appear to be “strong” for me just because they appear weak to you? I don’t hurt anybody, not even myself over what I’ve chose to accept. And I don’t need you to accept my reasons either. It works for me and that’s all there is to it.

(And then another Mr. Chump Change jumped in (let’s call him Mr. Chump Change #2) though his words are mostly just repetation of Mr. Chump Change #1′s words. But I’m polite enough to welcome him since he’s my guess anyway.)

Mr. Chump Change #2: I doubt you’re a Touhou fan, regarding the ‘answer’ that was given by you state that ‘lack of interest’, ‘waste bandwidth’ etc. This is not what a true fan should say after claiming he/she as a fan…

Halfey: Do I need to follow your guide on “becoming a TRUE Touhou fan”? Oh well whatever I’m saying or claiming about myself is only about myself and does not concern you, so you don’t have to tell me “you’re not a true fan” because whatever you’re gonna say is not valid to me, just as in the case where my claim appears to be invalid to you. Again it’s all about myself, I don’t hurt anybody, not even myself over what I’ve chose to accept. And I don’t need you to accept my reasons either. It works for me and that’s all there is to it. Love is about how we appreciate what we have no matter how much we have things we love in our hand, not about how we show them or we’d steal to have everything we love. In short, just because you don’t or can’t see doesn’t mean it isn’t there.

Mr. Chump Change #2: oh dammit.. i gtg

Halfey: Thanks for coming.

There might be another Mr. Chump Change will come soon, even the female ones (a.k.a. Miss Chump Change). Until then I have have to get prepared for more assault.

(54/97 ‘true’ Touhou fans killed themselves out of rage after they learned about my interest in Touhou.)

Sometimes (many times) We Fight

This is a fictional argument that is actually fictional. I did say 'fictional' but I'll let you use your brain to decide whether it's true or not but before that please do your judgment on argument because you might not buying all of my words. I don't need you to judge on the subject but rather do your judgment on who's being more positive and who's being more negative.

K-ON! Charms

Mr. Chump Change: So you said you like Touhou Project?

Halfey: I do, and I like them as they are.

Mr. Chump Change: Have you played any Touhou Project games then?

Halfey: I haven't due to my lack of interest in bullet-hell shooting games, almost as much as how I'm interested in any shooting games (particularly FPS titles). Besides getting the game is not an easy thing to begin with, though I admit that I like the 'story' inside'.

Mr. Chump Change: I thought you're a bittorrent user? And shouldn't a real Touhou fan would get those games without fail?

Halfey: On what account you're doubting the sincerity of my interest on them? Yes I use bittorrent a lot but it doesn't mean I have to dedicate all my bandwidth only for them and forgetting my interest in anime instead.

The argument went nowhere. Then comes another argument.

Mr. Chump Change: Why do you hate K-ON?

Halfey: Because I feel like to hate it, that's all.

Mr. Chump Change: Don't try to give a vague answer like that.

Halfey: Alright, if you need a 'proper' answer then what if I tell you that I hate it because it has not 'proper' story?

Mr. Chump Change: Doesn't sound like a good reason to hate it.

Halfey: Huh? Why must it's you who decide what's "the good reason" and "the bad reason" for hating K-ON? Does that implying that you'll think it's alright if I have "good reasons" to hate it?

Mr. Chump Change: Because you're being irrational.

Halfey: Irrational? Come on. If people "don't need a reason to love something" then why must I "need a reason to hate something" too? Why the double standard?

Again, the argument went nowhere.

My Question In Need of an Honest Answer

To expect honest answer, or should I say the will to know the truth is hardwired inside humanity, more less like “human instinct” (if you could call that ‘instinct’ on human being though). It’s the same will also that drive us to lie about the truth and being hypocrite. We expect honest answer from other people but we’d be reluctant to answer honestly. What is it if not hypocrisy, right?

Tree of Truth

Certainly it depends on whom I can ask the question. Normally I’d like to ask everybody but there is one question I’ve been longing to ask all people that I know. The question is either “What lies did you tell?” or “What are your secrets that you have yet to tell me?”. Some killer question isn’t it? Yeah I’d like to ask that because I know everybody lies (me is no exception either because I am no saint). Now read on.

Why would I ask that kind of killer question? It’s because that’s what all human are doing; seeking the truth. We always interested to know everything, and I don’t need to be particular or being specific here since it’s really self-explanatory. Besides don’t you think it would be cool if you know could know everything and being able to answer what people might ask you about some other people? At least I do.

Another reason why I’d like to ask that question is because it’s one of the questions I’m fear of. Yeah, to be honest I’m afraid if people going to expect honest answer from me should anybody ask me the same question. You may call me hypocrite for being like that but like I said, everybody lies, and everybody are hypocrites. Admit it because there is no use for you to be in denial. That’s what people do.
