[Review] NazoKano ep. 12 (and a little something about schoolgirl pirates ep. 25)

Of imitating and opening up

Raep

Remember the raep episode last week where Tsubaki got “reverse-raeped” but Hayakawa and Urabe? The after effect was so strong that whenever Tsubaki sees Urabe he would feel like he could see her through her clothes (nekkid). Oka was witnessing the raep however got raeped by Urabe because she was trying to imitate her  deadly scissors attack.

Tsubaki was able to control himself most of the time but right after he tasted Urabe’s drool the urge amplified and he instinctively hugged Urabe again but as usual (with exception of the raep episode in episode 08) Urabe escaped in an instant with exceptional agility. Almost like a reflex she paid it back by drawing her scissors (from her panties of course) and began attacking but something was not right. Her attack wasn’t accurate as it used to be, resulting in a slight cut on Tsubaki’s forehead.

Due to the amplified ‘urge’ this is what Tsubaki saw right after he tasted Urabe’s drool.

Feeling guilty of causing injury to Tsubaki, Urabe invited him to her house to treat the cut (her excuse for invitation was “if it didn’t get proper treatment it would leave a scar”). At Urabe’s house Tsubaki noticed that her pillow was a bit damp, properly from her sweating in her sleep. And then another accident happened where Tsubaki wanted to avoid landing on Urabe that he ended up having his forehead hit the corner of Urabe’s bed.

Before the second accident.

Then both of them learned something about what was wrong with them that day despite having lived their lives like usual. Turned out that it has something to do with Urabe’s dream that night, a dream that probably resulted from the thought of Tsubaki saw her nekkid body the other day. It was a H dream to be exact, too disturbing to her that her scissors attack became imperfect several times, and the effect even transferred to Tsubaki from her drool. However she discovered that after she hugged Tsubaki the effect was gone and her scissors attack turned fine again.

The second bunny I saw this week, after Sankarea.

Finally Urabe realized that hugging is not that bad and if anything it helped her to calm the effect from the H dream she had the other night. She even then took initiative to hug Tsubaki first during their next drool-giving ‘ritual/ceremony’ and said that it’s OK to hug her. She also realized that she was just as ecchi as Tsubaki, if not more.

Into Mouretsu Pirates ep. 25, it turned out to be the most interesting episode so far, thanks to numbers of Chiaki-chan’s cute moments as well as a close-up at Luca’s ass, in bikini. Since I’ve stopped writing a review for it for several weeks (honestly I can’t remember the last time I wrote one), I couldn’t come up with proper review so I just insert it here anyway. There’s only one episode left, an episode where the final battle against the pirate hunter will commence. I’ll write a review and final impression article for it but until then enjoy some of Chiaki-chan’s cute moments below in case you’ve missed it.

You don’t see this often.

[Review] Girlfriend x Girlfriend (NazoKano ep. 11)

After the raep. They had to cover their nipples and genitals as they're overly sensitive after "being used".

Following last week’s development (where Tsubaki agreed to pose has Hayakawa’s boyfriend for a day) this episode brought us straight to the said high school cultural festival. However it was not just ordinary episode because raep happened again. And it was not ‘ordinary’ raep either because it was Tsubaki who got raeped, by both Urabe and Hayakawa!

Oka’s oppai. She groped them herself because Ueno would’t do it for her.

Actually Hayakawa telling Tsubaki that she was dumped by her boyfriend was just a made-up story so that Tsubaki would sympathize with her and would listen to whatever she told him. The truth is she also wants to ‘own’ Tsubaki and is willing to do anything even if it means facing Urabe’s wrath. However she is the type who would play the “first-ball” game so she went all out by plotting for a situation where she could raep Tsubaki and make him hers.

The first casualty.

Luck was not siding with Hayakawa at first where one fellow student at her school discovered her raep plan and attempted to inform Tsubaki about it. However Hayakawa acted faster and killed her by severing her head. The secret remained safe until she managed to bring Tsubaki to a so-called “deserted classroom”.

Urabe suddenly popped up from a box.

Right when the raep was about to happen Hayakawa was surprised by Urabe appeared from nowhere. She has been following Tsubaki all along and hid inside a box while moving around just like Solid Snake did in the Metal Gear Solid game. My feelings were mixed at that time because I was impressed but feel funny at the same time.

Tsubaki couldn’t do anything after he licked Hayakawa’s love juice.

Tsubaki and me must have thought that Urabe has arrived to rescue him. Both of us wrong as Urabe was there not only to ‘support’ Hayakawa but also to “return-raep” as a revenge for Tsubaki raeped her back then (see my episode 08 review). We all know Tsubaki is no match to Urabe’s reflex and agility and this time he could get the chance to lick her ears (Urabe’s weakness) as she is now more prepared for it.

After the raep. They had to cover their nipples and genitals as they’re overly sensitive after “being used”.

With him got raeped by 2 girls at the same time Tsubaki now learned his lesson the hard way. He shouldn’t have lied to his girlfriend and he shouldn’t have had sex with her without her consent. Lucky for him that Urabe said “now we are even”, meaning that he is now forgiven.

Urabe’s personality dramatically changed after the “return-raep”.

Anyway I think the raep is not really a bad thing because as you can see Urabe is now more outgoing and happy-fun then she used to be. However she still maintained some of her ‘mysteriousness’ though as it is what she was born with. At least she can now openly make fun of Tsubaki without feeling awkward.

A femdom smile.

When I said her personality changed, I’m serious, and so do when I said she still have some “mysteriousness” with her. By personality change I mean she now acts more like a sadistic dominatrix while the ‘mysteriousness’ is that she allowed Hayakawa to keep raeping Tsubaki. Of course that last part was not without a condition, which is she must take part in it too.

[Analysis] Gun pantsu (ep. 10 – final impression) & Scissors pantsu (ep. 10)

Upotte! and NazoKano have just had their 10th episode aired recently. While there’s still newer episodes available for NazoKano, episode 10 marked the end of Upotte! It wasn’t the type of ending most people would like to see (if you ask me).

They're produced by human... to become assault rifles or sex slaves or both?

It was not remarkable ending because it was ended with the “you win, you lose” choice. Sure the ‘guns’ (girls) now have grown more mature from the incident but for the attackers to get away just like that without facing the consequences (or at least felt some sense of defeat) wasn’t likeable. Although they faced many loses as well the point that they have more firepower is clear enough to tell that they’re the winner in the ‘game’.

Bad end.

I’ve always thought using moe-anthropomorphism isn’t a good idea since the beginning because come on, do you think that for any gun model there can be only one being produced for each model? I mean if M16 is going to school then what are those being used by the US army? For me if it wasn’t because of the fanservice I might have stopped watching weeks ago.

And now into what I think is the most ‘controversial’ episode of NazoKano (by controversial I mean in terms of the possible conflict to happen between the characters). This is one of a very few times I’d call Tsubaki a jerk for being… a jerk. He’s not yet a two-timing but seeing how he was lying about not having a girlfriend, lying to Urabe that he is going for shopping with Ueno, he deserves the worst punishment Urabe could give him.

About Hayakawa (the girl Tsubaki used to have a crush on), she said her boyfriend just dumped her but for Tsubaki to agree to pretend being her boyfriend is unacceptable to me. I mean he could have tell that Hayakawa is not a good girl if she wanted to show he ex that she’s already got a new boyfriend, only days after they broke up. It’s a good thing that he didn’t go out with her back then or else he’d be disappointed.

There are a few possibilities behind Hayakawa’s story. She might not lying about being dumped (and wanted to have Tsubaki as a quick replacement) but then it would still make her a bad girl. Or she might be laying all along and decided to “snatch away” Tsubaki from Urabe (which would make her a real bad girl then).

If anything I hope Urabe will punish both of them good or she could just dump Tsubaki. For Tsubaki going for Hayakawa would be a loss either as Hayakawa seems like a player who would not get serious with him (and even if she will chances are it won’t be for long). I hope that would serve him right.

Urabe and a 'witch'.

[Review] Mysterious School Idol x Twintails (NazoKano ep. 09)

Of jealousy, possessiveness and a lookalike

Before (left) and after (right)

It all started when Urabe went to school with ‘extremely’ unkempt hair. Well Urabe has always have quite a messy hair as she doesn’t really care about her appearance (after all Tsubaki didn’t fall for her appearance) but then that morning it was a little terrible that it caught Oka’s attention. Then Oka decided to give her a new hairdo, a twintail! (and surprisingly Urabe didn’t refuse at all).

And with that twintails, a new school idol was born.

Everything was fine until Urabe with her new look caught too much attention especially from the boys, much to Tsubaki’s disapproval. Even worse for him, the boys are starting to trade her pics like what most high school boys would do with any school beauty. However from such activities Tsubaki learned about something regarding Urabe, where there was this idol by the handle “Momoka Imai” that looks exactly like her.

Other boys started to get a hold of this extremely rare treasure.

So then Tsubaki decided to look for a photobook of this Momoka idol to confirm by himself how much lookalike she is. Turned out that it was exactly like the other boys said. Tsubaki bought it right away but then he bumped into Ueno so now it’s not really a secret anymore.

Urabe lookalike. The cheerful appearance is a far cry from Urabe though.

The similarity as well as the cheerful appearance struck Tsubaki’s heart and he quickly fell in love with the ‘imaginary’ Urabe who would appear like Momoka in the photobook. As a guy I perfectly understand how Tsubaki feels, I mean there might be times where anybody would have a thought of “If only my boyfriend/girlfriend was like this/that” or something similar. I have to admit though for a moment I thought the one in the photobook was really Urabe, I mean she might be ‘working’ as an idol (and I heard some idols indeed keep it a secret from their schoolmates).

She really looks like Urabe, except for the chest part though.

As Urabe’s boyfriend, Tsubaki could almost immediately tell that Momoka is not her, especially after he had look at Momoka’s boobs. Well he did ‘raep’ Urabe after all, er, I mean he grabbed those already (and saw them while they were at the beach before) so he was pretty sure about that. Still Tsubaki was happy that he bought the photobook without thinking about what would Urabe feel if she knew about it.

The level of similarity (between Momoka and Urabe) could fool anybody into believing that they're the same person.

Yes, eventually the ‘news’ about Tsubaki bought the photobook reached Urabe. You know that Ueno found Tsubaki buying the photobook the other day right? From Ueno Oka knew about it too but I don’t blame Ueno though because unlike Oka he still doesn’t know about Tsubaki and Urabe are dating.

Because of this I hated this woman for a while.

The real problem was with Oka who seemed not considering the fact that conveying such information to Urabe might resulting in a destruction of a good relationship. This is not about being loyal or betraying your partner because I found nothing wrong about a boyfriend keeping a photobook of an idol who resembles his girlfriend. Well maybe a little wrong but we shouldn’t have helped igniting the spark in the event that something like this happened.

Urabe wielding her weapon of mass distraction.

Well Urabe got jealous after all and long story short, she destroyed the photobook in a way that only Urabe is capable of doing so. Now my question is what if Tsubaki bought the book just because he like it and not because the idol looks like Urabe? Would Urabe accept it?

[Review] Mysterious girlfriend raep (NazoKano ep. 08)

A peaceful scene is not a sign that everything ahead is also peaceful.

The following texts contain deliberate spoilers. If you haven’t watched this episode then you’re advised to stop at once. If you don’t mind then proceed at your own risk; you’ve been warned.

Terrible thing lies ahead.

Also if you happen to be a big fan of Urabe then you should stop reading now. I shall not be held responsible if your heart is broken from reading this because something really terrible happened to Urabe in this episode. For a girl there’s nothing more terrible than being raped.

How Tsubaki tricked Urabe into putting away her scissors.

Poor Urabe; she thought it was accidental.

It all started when Tsubaki had this one ecchi dream of him touching and squeezing Urabe’s breast. Thinking that he could get rid of the dirty though he decided to take a stroll in the downtown. However, as if the bad luck has been spelled for Urabe, she bumped into Tsubaki right in front of the apartment building where she lives.

He finally got to hug her but he was taking it too far.

Unaware of what was in Tsubaki’s mind Urabe naturally invited him in for a tea. After all he is her boyfriend and it was also the first time he went to her place. Then the worst part of the story happened.

Tsubaki thought that Urabe without her scissors could be powerless so he tricked her into putting her scissors away. Urabe, after going out with Tsubaki for a while no longer feel insecure being with her boyfriend without her scissors around. Too bad for her that kind of thought have put her into disadvantage.

Tsubaki turned evil.

Tears of a rape victim.

With Urabe became defenseless now that her scissors is not with her anymore, Tsubaki forcefully pushed her down and….. Of course Urabe cried and begged him to stop but Tsubaki, as if he was possessed by a demon ignored all that and keep doing the evil thing as he pleases. Even worse, once he finished he left Urabe just like that.

What's worse than this?

At home Tsubaki confined himself in his room, still unable to believe what he had done to his girlfriend. The feeling of guilty finally rushed into his head and he decided to apologize to Urabe the next day. He however waited until the school ended to talk to her.

Urabe was nice enough not to report the incident to the police. She however seriously mad at Tsubaki and slapped him real hard. That was not enough punishment for what Tsubaki did to her but it doesn’t mean Urabe didn’t have heavier punishment up her sleeves. Yes, she decided to stop giving her drool to Tsubaki and you could imagine how Tsubaki would not be able to live without that.

Just a slap is not enough.

Now nobody is sure how are things going to happen between them in the future. Who would have thought that somebody like Tsubaki would rape a girl? I’m worried about what will happen to Urabe because that incident would leave a permanent scar in her mind and she might have completely lost her trust in men.

No more drool from now on.

After all that happened and written above I am happy to announce that no rape happened in this episode. Be thankful that your Urabe is still a virgin. Sorry but don’t believe in everything I’ve written above. It’s all lies, a trollpost, written in such a misleading way (>_<)

[Review] NazoKano ep. 06

Learning maths has never been this fun.

Not sure how do I put this but it all started with Tsubaki and Oka bumped into each other on the last day of the summer break. Oka revealed that she and her boyfriend (Ueno) are calling each other by their first names. Of course Tsubaki wanted to do that too but he was worried that it might be too early for that and there’s a possibility that Urabe might not like the idea too.

How she looked like after Tsubaki whispered her first name to her while she was sleeping.

Turned out that Urabe didn’t really reject the idea but both her and Tsubaki are currently oblivious of how they wanted to call each other (or be called by each other) by their first names. Oka managed to dig that after she tasted Urabe’s drool. In one occasion while taking a break at a park Oka instantly woke up from her sleep right after Tsubaki whispered her first name to her.

Tsubaki's first crush.

At one point I started to ‘hate’ Urabe a little, because I think she’s quite selfish and only wanted things between her and Tsubaki to be her way. I mean Tsubaki wanted to take her picture (with her smiling) but she turned his request down because she thought “it’s pointless to fake a smile for a picture?” What the hell was that?

Sad Urabe

That makes me being thankful that Tsubaki met his first crush while waiting for Urabe. If it was not because of that she might still refuse to allow Tsubaki taking her picture. Seriously she should learn more about give-take  in romantic relationship (well they’re still new to this thing though).

Good thing that finally near the end of the episode she agreed to accept Tsubaki’s request (to take her picture) right after she showed him another smiling face. Too bad though the smiling face didn’t last long as she quickly returned to her usual expressionless self. Well at least she made a “funny face” and Tsubaki got the pic to keep in his wallet as what he did with his first crush back then.

[Review] Hasami mizugi (NazoKano ep. 05)

I guess this concluded the mizugi episodes of all anime I watched this season. That is, assuming that Mouretsu Pirates will not have a mizugi episode until the end. After this I’ll have to wait until summer anime arrived for the next dose mizugi episodes.

It all started when the boys and girls are separated for PC class. The boys were doing some soccer practices while the girls went for swimming. However the only divider between the field and the swimming pool were only trees and the chain-link fence that the boys purposely miss the target when they kicked the ball so that they’d have the chance to peek on the girls while picking the ball.

Unfortunately for Tsubaki, him having a slight sight of Urabe made him missed the ball and didn’t get the chance to see Urabe in her swimsuit. He was a bit upset (or even frustrated) for not having the chance to see Urabe in swimsuit but then in one occasion, while going back from the school with Urabe, he discovered that he can also ‘feel’ Urabe’s emotion from her sweat, or rather Urabe can transfer her emotions through her sweat too and not just saliva.

After having the taste of Urabe’s sweat, which tastes like ‘sea’ Tsubaki asked her to go out on the beach together during the summer break. Quite unexpectedly Urabe agreed but the things didn’t really go straight to what he has planned. It’s only after a couple of weeks that both of them finally got the chance to go to the beach together.

Tsubaki was surprised to see Urabe’s skin got all-tanned after spending a week at her father’s place (probably referring her father’s hometown). There’s a beach at her father’s place and Urabe who loves the sea and swimming didn’t waste the chance to go all out there. The thing is her now all-tanned skin only made Tsubaki more exited than usual.

Tsubaki was curious of why Urabe was wearing a skirt on top of her swimsuit. Turned out that while at her father’s place she went swimming without leaving her scissors behind, thus leaving the scissors-ark tan line on her waist. Therefore she was wearing the skirt to hide them but she did show them to Tsubaki.

Later on Urabe who was interested to know how Tsubaki feels about their date. From tasting Tsubaki’s saliva she learned that Tsubaki really likes to see her scissors tan line. She promised to show him that again next summer. End of another sweet episode.

[review] Mysterious girl meets (not mysterious) girl (NazoKano ep. 04)

Oops! Sorry, wrong picture :P

I’ll make this review as short as possible because I’m kinda ‘busy’ right now finishing my ‘mysterious’ artwork. Other than that I’m having trouble selecting the right words to write this review due to my bad English so this is the best I can do.

That was her "first time".

What I like about this episode:

  1. Ayuko Oka highly interested to become friends with Urabe.
  2. Urabe had lunch at school for the first time after she smell from Oka’s lunchbox caught her attention (Oka was having her lunch and sitting next to her).
  3. Urabe discovered Oka also have the “chemical connection” with her (I suggest you to watch the episode for details).
  4. Urabe felt hungry for the first time during lunch since she ate Oka’s food.
  5. Oka told Urabe she’d feel ‘better’ after she kissed Tsubaki.

Not happening (in real life)

What I dislike:

  1. Urabe’s refusal to become friends with Oka though they kinda getting along well in the end.
  2. Anything related to the above.
  3. I didn’t get to dream the same thing  (>_<)
  4. I got not much to say about this episode (on top of that I forgot to write the review for the last week’s episode and was thinking to include it here but not sure where to start).

Good thing that next week’s episode will be a beach episode. Not sure if it’s right to say that Urabe needs to change but I think there’s a need for some leverages here. Anyway this is a good episode and I had fun exploring more about Urabe’s mysterious side, of which in this case the mysterious nature itself is ‘cute’.

This is not to be missed for sure.

Characters I’d like to beat to a pulp using a spiky baseball bat: also Mikoto Urabe?
What I’m in for: ….. isn’t it obvious? :P
What I hate about it: (read below)
Other noteworthy remarks: 3 different things that aren’t related at all but fused together by the story, they are drools, scissors and panties (and lotsa monologues too)

First this anime wasn’t in my watchlist until recently because I didn’t really like the character design, as if they were from the 80′s or something (even the panties are white like it was really in the 80′s or 90′s). Honestly I was like am I watching an 80′s anime remake or what? (I don’t mean no girls wearing white panties anymore today). At least the positive reactions it received plus the fanservice saved it from being ditched by me.

Tracing the root of the source media (the manga) I was quite surprised that it only started in 2006 so I couldn’t relate it to its 80′s-like character design. It’s not really a bad thing by itself though but I could still compare it to designs from other manga and saying the competing designs are better. It’s a good thing though the story is quite engaging for me and I think I could stand watching it a little longer.

Putting the character design aside, I really really really love the “dream city” from the dream Tsubaki had that I’m not sure how I should put it into words. It reminds me the artworks by Imperial Boy, one of the Japanese illustrators who is notable for drawing fictional city sites with complex and elaborate details. Now if only we could see it to become real, at least in the 2D anime world and not just remain a dream.

Back to the anime, I have to say the vanilla flavor, I mean the romance level in this series is really high I could barely made it to the top if it were a mountain (and that’s just what I like for anime in this class). It’s sweet, lovely and straight forward. I absolutely like the scene near the end of the first episode where Tsubaki, soon after confessed his love towards Urabe, tore of the pic of the girl he used to have a crush on, right in front of her.

The thing I might not like about this series is the reference to sex, though isn’t really highlighted but it does present. Sure going to have sex for the first time with somebody who is also going to have his/her first is hot but I don’t like how it implies the characters are going to have sex with different partners throughout their life, thus I don’t really like the usage of the term “first time” here (because I hate the idea of having the “second”, “third” and so on). I may not in the right position to say that but if possible I’d like to avoid it.

Before I end this I think it’s worth to say that the girls inside are surprisingly quite oppailicious too, or have just the perfect size/shape for me (not oversized) :P Although Urabe may creep me out sometimes but turns out that she is a VERY interesting kind of girlfriend (emphasis on the word ‘VERY’). I wouldn’t mind if she were to become my girlfriend either.
